Positioning for the ProCurve 5308xl Switch

The ProCurve 5308xl Switch is a 5U layer 2/3/4, eight slot chassis switch targeted primarily at

high-performance access tier applications where higher port density is needed. The ProCurve

5308xl Switch provides up to 128 10/100/1000 Ethernet ports or 192 10/100 ports with

ProCurve Auto-MDIX ports. Voice, video and data ready, the Switch 5300xl series offers

extensive prioritization features that bring full convergence down to the desktop. The chassis

comes standard with a routing engine and power supply.

The ProCurve 5308xl Switch is the same as the ProCurve 5304xl Switch, except that it holds up

to 8 modules in a 5U rack space, giving it a higher port density and greater throughput than the

ProCurve 5304xl Switch. For some customers the ProCurve 5308xl Switch can also be used as a

distribution switch.

The ProCurve 5304xl Switch is a 3U layer 2/3/4, four slot chassis switch targeted primarily at

high-performance access tier applications. The ProCurve 5304xl Switch provides up to to 64

10/100/1000 ports or 96 10/100-TX with ProCurve Auto-MDIX ports. Voice, video and data

ready, the Switch 5300xl series offers extensive prioritization features that bring full

convergence down to the desktop. The chassis comes standard with a routing engine and power

supply.

The ProCurve 5304xl Switch can be used in wiring closets or server farms where high

performance at layer 2 or layer 3, particularly at Gigabit rates, is desired. The 3U chassis size

lends itself to smaller racks or where the larger number of ports available through the ProCurve

5308xl Switch is not needed. For some customers the ProCurve 5304xl Switch can also be used

as a distribution switch.
